Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan has confirmed that President Recep Tayyip Erdogan expects to meet Russian President Vladimir Putin at next month's Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit in Kazakhstan's capital.

"In the coming days, Mr. President will probably meet with Mr. Putin himself in Kazakhstan," Fidan said on Monday in an interview with Habertürk TV.

The Turkish Foreign Minister is also reported that Erdogan has invited Putin for a state visit to Ankara. "We expect Mr. Putin to visit us," he said. "Our president has invited him before. There was talk of his coming to us. But first, there were elections in Russia, then we had them. Perhaps in the following days, the leaders will discuss this issue again".

Earlier media reports suggested that Erdogan and Putin will discuss issues such as Moscow's conflict with Ukraine and efforts to protect grain shipments through the Black Sea.
