The Laws Commission met today online where the draft law on Criminal Amnesty is being discussed.

The Deputy Speaker of the Assembly Ermonela Felaj has made several proposals regarding the draft law. She proposed that the amnesty should benefit people with permanent injuries and those who suffer from incurable diseases, convicts who according to her are not in a modest number.

"I suggest that since there are convicts with incurable diseases in the prisons and in the prison hospital, an amnesty should be made for these personnel. This category does not appear to me to be a small number of such convicts.
Another proposal is that we forgive 4-5 years of prison for the convicted, in article 5 not only crimes that are punishable up to 2 years, but also those that are up to 3 years that are not crimes with high risk, are included, she said.
