Russian Foreign Minister Says Moscow Dropped Wheat Deal After West Failed To Fulfill Promises

The peace plan proposed by Ukraine to end the war for Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov is unacceptable.

Speaking from the UN, Lavrov described the peace plan as 'unrealistic', but also the UN's recent proposals to revive the Black Sea wheat agreement.

"This is completely impossible. It is not realistic and everyone understands that, but at the same time, they say that this is the only basis for negotiations".

Lavrov stressed that if Kiev and its Western allies stay true to their beliefs then the conflict will be resolved on the battlefield.

The peace formula proposed by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy includes respect for Ukraine's territorial integrity and sovereignty and the restoration of UN principles.

Among other things, he explained that Moscow left the Black Sea grain deal because promises made to Russia, including the lifting of sanctions against a Russian bank and its reconnection with the Swift global payments system, had not been fulfilled.

Lavrov also said he will visit Pyongyang next month to continue negotiations with his counterpart there following recent deals made by Russian President Vladimir Putin and North Korean leader Kim Jong-un in Moscow.
