The Minister of Justice, Ulsi Manja from the Law Commission spoke today about the Criminal Amnesty, from which some convicts will benefit.

He clarified the figures of how much they will benefit from this amnesty.

"There have been models that the amnesty has had both for the convicted and for criminal prosecutions. There was and only for convicted persons, that this is the goal. Amnesty did not want to remove the instrument from the hands of justice, for the accusations raised by the prosecution. There were such models. We have accurate statistics. We asked for amnesty because we have 2200 convicted persons. If the approval of the Assembly will be obtained, 700 convicted persons and 2500 persons on probation will benefit. The category that benefits from a reduced sentence ranges from 1200 to 1600 convicts. These are statistics about this amnesty. Regarding the persons who are under investigation or trial, if they exceed the rule that we will amnesty the crimes punishable up to 2 years, there is no subjectivity. If we go beyond this margin, here is a delicate moment that we interfere in the work of the justice system," he said.
