The command center of the US armed forces in charge of the Middle East region (CENTCOM) confirmed on Monday the attack on the Greek-owned merchant ship Transworld Navigator, which was announced on Sunday by Yahya Sharia, the representative of Yemen's Houthi rebels.

It is reported that the Greek-owned M/V Transworld Navigator, flying the flag of Liberia, was hit by a Houthi drone around 4 am on Sunday. The crew reported "minor injuries and limited damage" but continued their journey. It was reportedly the fourth time this particular ship had been attacked by the Houthis. Yahya Sharia had also announced that the Houthis launched a missile attack against the Stolt Sequoia ship in the Indian Ocean.

Since last November, Iran-aligned Yemeni rebels have frequently launched missile and drone attacks against merchant ships in the Red Sea, Gulf of Aden and the Indian Ocean. They initially said they were targeting ships linked to Israel, but later expanded their targets to include ships linked to the US and Britain in retaliation for attacks against their positions in Yemen.
