The US national security adviser, Jake Sullivan, has announced that the US president, Joe Biden, will travel to Brussels and Warsaw.
He also said the US and allies would announce a new package of sanctions against Russia on Thursday, though he did not elaborate.
"We have exerted great economic pressure and this pressure will have new objectives", he said among other things.
