The former Italian Prime Minister, Ciariaco De Mita, has passed away at the age of 94.
The former prime minister passed away this morning, at the Villa dei Pini nursing home in Avellino.
He was first elected to the House of Representatives in 1963 and was one of the most famous leaders in the post-war period.
In February he underwent surgery for a fractured femur after a fall at home.
Ciriaco De Mita was a symbol of the First Republic, Italian media write.
