Climate change threatens Australia's barrier reef again. The cause seems to be the very high summer temperatures in the Australian Hemisphere. The damage affects the colors by fading them, a phenomenon that has been quite pronounced during the last 3 months. And according to the US Meteorological and Oceanographic Agency, it is thought that the situation will worsen during the months of February and March, when temperatures will rise even more, which could cause a massive bleaching of corals.

According to the scientists, no such thermal stress has been recorded on the species, first affecting the unicellular algae and then affecting the entire coral barrier chain.

The Great Barrier Reef, i.e. Australia's, is the largest in the world, and includes 2900 interconnected barriers, 900 islands with a length of 2200 km and an area of 345 km2. It was created 20 thousand years ago and there are 1500 species of fish in it.
