The time partners spend together says a lot about their relationship. But many studies show that the very beginning can determine the course but also the end of a relationship or marriage. That is, for many couples, marriage at an early age also means its end.
A survey showed that about 45% of couples said that the reason for the divorce was that they were too young. At least one of the partners cited this as the main reason, and in 23 percent of cases both divorced partners cited it. At the time of marriage, they were on average 23 years old.
But another study found that getting married before age 32 actually reduces the likelihood of divorce. This research was conducted at the Institute of Family Studies at the University of Utah. By gathering information and statistics about families, the researchers concluded that there are benefits if people marry earlier.
Furthermore, the analysis showed that the probability of divorce increases in the 30s and 40s. In other words, and according to the findings of both studies, people who marry between the ages of 28 and 32 have the lowest odds of divorce.
