The Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, said that when the officials in Belgrade, including the Serbian President, Aleksandar Vucic, talk about violence and murder in Kosovo, they are talking about themselves, "they are talking about their imagination and thoughts".

This reaction comes a day after Serbian President Vučić declared in Belgrade that there is information about plans that "the liquidation of our people" is being prepared in the north of Kosovo, referring to the Serbian population living in Kosovo.

But Kurti, after a visit he made to Kosovo Customs on August 12, said that Kosovo is for peace and stability.

"When they speak, they are not speaking for us, but for themselves. We are for peace, security, long-term stability and we must not only protect sovereignty and territorial integrity, but also democracy, constitutionality, rule of law and progress with our state", said Kurti.

He again accused Serbia of fueling tensions in northern Kosovo on July 31 and August 1, when local Serbs, expressing dissatisfaction with Kosovo's decisions on Serbian license plates and documents, blocked roads in the north.

"The day of August 1 would be completely peaceful and it would be the first working day of the eighth month of the year. However, on July 31, those barricades were erected by the people who had instigated, planned, prepared and financed the illegal structures that the criminal gang made along the road in the north of Kosovo", said Kurti.

Kurti said that Kosovo has made progress in many areas, including in the collection of revenues and the prevention of smuggling, emphasizing that during this year alone, revenues from Customs have increased by 14 percent compared to last year.

During the press conference, Kurti was also asked about an initiative of citizens on social networks, who are asking for the repeal of an administrative instruction that prohibits the wearing of headscarves in Kosovo's schools.

The head of the executive said that the Ministry of Education, Science, Technology and Innovation (MASHTI) is working to address this concern of citizens, as he added that he is against the prohibition of headscarves for girls from the age of 16.

"I have stated my position many years ago, and the position is that there should not be a ban on headscarves and other religious elements in the public life of citizens. But I also said that the age of 16 is the threshold", said Kurti.

In Kosovo, since 2010 there is an administrative instruction that prohibits the wearing of headscarves in schools.

MESTI said that this ban on religious uniforms in schools is because the school is secular./REL
