Russian forces have taken control of three towns in the Donetsk region, including Svitlodarsk, regional governor Pavlo Kyrylenko told a local Radio Free Europe affiliate.
Svitlodarsk is 80km south-west of Sievierodonetsk, the key focus of Russian attacks in recent days.
Earlier today, the Russian-backed Donetsk People's Republic said its forces had taken control of the city, replacing the Ukrainian flag with a Russian one./tvklan.al
